Restorative Medical Tattooing in Edmonton

Our Trauma Aware Approach

At The Scar Lab YEG, every stretch mark and scar is more than skin deep. It carries a story, a season of growth, and sometimes memories the body has held for years. Our work is rooted in compassion and respect for the emotional side of skin restoration. We recognize that each client's journey may include feelings of pride, grief, resilience, and hope. That true transformation happens when you feel seen, safe, and empowered throughout your experience.

Our trauma aware approach means we're mindful of your comfort and nervous system responses every step of the way. Nothing is rushed. Every touch, pigment choice, and conversation is guided by consent, communication, and care. You are always welcome to pause, ask questions, or simply take a breath.

This isn't about erasing your past, it's about helping you reconnect with your body as a place of beauty, wholeness, and belonging.

Here your story matters. Your skin matters. Your healing unfolds in a space created with professionalism, sensitivity, and a genuine understanding.

Our clients results evolve over time. These photos include both healed and in progress stages to give you a realistic view of the journey.

Meet the artist

Hi, I'm Kassandra, the owner and lead artist at The Scar Lab YEG. I specialize in stretch mark and scar camouflage tattooing. A form of paramedical tattoo artistry that restores confidence and helps you reconnect with your body.

My passion lies in helping others feel comfortable, confident, and proud of their skin again. Each treatment is approached with precision, care, and compassion to ensure natural, seamless results that blend beautifully with your unique skin tone.

At The Scar Lab YEG, my goal is to create a safe, empowering space where you can embrace your healing journey and feel like the best version of yourself every day.

My WHY

When I was around ten, a family member warned me not to gain or lose too much weight or I’d “get stretch marks like their friend.”

That comment stayed with me.

So when I developed stretch marks during puberty, I felt instant shame.

I had never seen anyone else with them, and that little voice in the back of my mind made me believe something was wrong with me.

I understand the grief, the embarrassment, and the silence that often surrounds stretch marks and scars, because I lived it.

This work is deeply personal to me.

Every client I support, every stretch mark I help soften, every scar I help blend, is part of healing the little girl in me who thought she wasn’t beautiful.

The Scar Lab YEG isn’t just my business.

It’s my purpose, a space where we release old beliefs, reclaim our bodies, and remember that our skin tells stories worth loving.

Getting a tattoo can be uncomfortable, but the level of pain varies depending on the individual and the location of the tattoo. On average most rate the discomfort level at a 3/10. Kassandra use's techniques to minimize discomfort, and we can provide guidance on how to care for your tattoo after the appointment to minimize any pain or discomfort.

Yes, you must be at least 18 years old to get a treatment at The Scar Lab YEG.

The initial healing phase takes about 10 days, during which you may experience mild redness, tightness, or slight scabbing as the skin regenerates. This is completely normal.

After that, the skin enters a longer term healing phase where you may see temporary hyperpigmentation (darkening of the treatment area), especially if you have more melanin in your skin.

Initial Phase (0-10 days): You may experience redness, tenderness, mild swelling, and light scabbing or flaking. This is completely normal and part of your skin's natural regeneration process.

Long Term Phase (up to 8 weeks): The pigment may appear darker at first and then lighten over time. Some clients experience temporary hyperpigmentation (darkening of the treated area), especially if they have medium to deeper skin tones or a history of post inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH). This usually fades as the skin continues to heal.

The camouflaged area will still look far more blended and natural than it did before treatment. Instead of a stark contrast between the scar/ stretch marks and your natural skin tone, you'll see a softer, more even transition that helps the scar/ stretch marks stay discreet, even when your skin tans.

The pigment is tattooed into the dermis, the second layer of the skin, while tanning only affects the epidermis, the surface layer. This means the tattooed area won't tan the same way, but it will remain neutral and natural looking beneath the skin's changing surface tone.

No, we do not perform treatments on anyone who is currently pregnant or breastfeeding, for your safety and optimal healing.

Yes! We customize pigment blends and techniques for all Fitzpatrick skin types, from fair to deep tones. A patch test may be required to ensure your skin responds well.

We typically wait 12 months post surgery or injury to ensure the scar has matured and the skin is ready for pigment.

No, unfortunately we can't treat keloids.

Camouflage uses pigment to blend scars or stretch marks with your skin tone. Inkless uses a custom healing serum (no pigment) to stimulate collagen, elastin and improve texture. They can be done separately or combined.

Results vary, but most clients need 2-4 sessions, spaced out 6-8 weeks apart. Some notice improvement after just one session.

Results vary, but most clients need 2-4 sessions, spaced out 8 weeks apart. The first session is more of a "primer".
